The Climate Emergency

These are the best books I’ve found for offering both hope and realism in equally healthy doses.

‘No one is too small to make a difference.’

Don’t Even Think About It

George Marshall

A climate communications 101, George maps out exactly why climate change is such a wicked challenge.

From conversations with the Texas Tea Party to airplane pilots to victims of natural disasters, George leaves no stone unturned in his search to better understanding the art of climate communications.

For a quick summary of his findings you can listen to George’s TED talk here.

No one is too Small to Make a Difference

Greta Thunberg

You could probably read this collection of speeches within an hour, if you’re a fast reader.

At fifteen years of age Greta pioneered the global Fridays for the Future movement which, during the most recent strike, moblised over half a million people to march for the climate. This book is a challenging and sometimes uncomfortable read, but rightly so.

The Secret Life of Cows

Rosamund Young

Some days (a lot of days), I’m just not up to taking on the unravelling of our entire planet, and that’s when I turn to a little gem like The Secret Life of Cows.

Putting to one side the fact that beef is not good for climate change (although if we are going to farm, this is certainly a good way to do it), this collection of real life farmyard stories cannot fail to warm your heart, renew your trust in life and remind you why we fight for what we fight for.
