About Climate.Emergence

For six years I oversaw the growth of a wonderful charity from the ground up.

What started as a small climate campaign became a nationwide research project and eventually a rapidly growing charity influencing at all levels of government

I loved it. I couldn’t believe my luck that I actually got paid to work on something so meaningful. Whenever I felt anxious about climate change, I found myself surrounded by people doing something about it. I turned up to the work feeling that what I did made a difference. With the charity’s rapid growth came new challenges every day, and I relished them.

Until, I just didn’t anymore.

I found myself working more and more, but getting less and less done. Funding pressures began to take a grip, emails mounted up, I never switched off. And, despite all the amazing work being done, climate breakdown only sped up.

This is the not-so-fun side of environmental work. Eventually, it led me to burnout and I stepped down from my role as Director.

But here I am, on the other side of burnout with all the training and research I wished I had known before.

And I want to share it with you, not only to help in mitigating the stresses of environmental work, but to also stay as closely connected to all the wonderful things that drew you here in the first place.

So Climate.Emergence is here to offer emotional and ecological wellbeing strategies that support you in offering the best of yourself to the world, and to enjoy yourself as much possible whilst doing so.

About the Facilitator

Jo M-S profile pic.jpg

Hi, I’m Jo Musker-Sherwood, and I have over fifteen year’s experience working directly in the charity sector. I was the Founder Director of climate lobbying specialists, Hope for the Future, where I worked for over six years growing the charity from a small project to a national NGO impacting climate policy at all levels of government. I’m now a coach in training, and I currently research, write, mentor, and consult on emotional resiliency strategies for those working in the environmental sector.
